Committed to Providing a Final Resting Place of Honor

Our Mission

The Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery (NWLVC) is the oldest in Louisiana. The NWLVC Foundation’s purpose is to solicit volunteers for events at the cemetery, to meet emergency needs of the cemetery through funding outside of the state supported funding from the Veterans Administration, to support activities and programs that promote or advance the mission of the cemetery and to develop and manage private donations in support of the NWLVC.

History

In 1999, the state veterans cemetery program was established by the Louisiana Legislature within the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs due to a limited amount of national cemetery burial space in the state. Eight years later, in 2007, the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery was dedicated. When at full capacity, the cemetery will accommodate more than 22,000 burial sites

Location

The Cemetery is located off of Louisiana State Highway 789 on Mike Clark Road in southwest Caddo Parish. The cemetery primarily serves a 75 mile radius which includes northwest Louisiana, northeast Texas and southwest Arkansas.

“WITH MALICE TOWARD NONE, WITH CHARITY FOR ALL, WITH FIRMNESS IN THE RIGHT AS GOD GIVES US TO SEE THE RIGHT, LET US STRIVE ON TO FINISH THE WORK WE ARE IN, TO BIND UP THE NATION’S WOUNDS, TO CARE FOR HIM WHO SHALL HAVE BORNE THE BATTLE, AND FOR HIS WIDOW AND HIS ORPHAN-TO DO ALL WHICH MAY ACHIEVE AND CHERISH A JUST AND LASTING PEACE AMONG OURSELVES AND WITH ALL NATIONS.”

– PRESIDENT ABRAHAM LINCOLN
